2014 Summer Sewing camp for Kids (Richmond, VA area)

April 7, 2014

Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t posted since January. There has been a great deal going on. I’ve moved to WV and am still traveling to VA to teach on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the 2 Hobby Lobby stores in Richmond. Wednesday is the last official after-school class until Sept. Now the Summer Sewing Camp, Kids Kan Sew! begins. We meet in week-long sessions. At the Chesterfield store, we meet from 9 am – noon, and at the Glen Allen store, from 1pm-4pm. That’s 15 instructional hours.

Here are the dates of the 3 camp sessions:

Cost is $250/week-long session. If you’ve  done these before, you know to book all 3 as soon as possible.

Kids who haven’t taken the camp before will spend their first session learning sewing machine basics….. how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, sew a straight line and how to use a commercial pattern to make a pair of pajama pants. They will need a $50 gift card to Hobby Lobby to buy their materials for class and if they have one, they will need to bring their sewing machine. If they don’t have the machine, just let me know and I’ll bring one for them to use in class.

Returning students will continue to build upon their current skill set, and need to be in contact with me to plan their project prior to the first day of class, so they can hit the ground running. Their materials fee may be a bit less, as they already have their essential sewing supplies.

Interested? Just drop me an email and I’ll send you a registration form. cherri.hankins at frontier dot com  Remember, the mailing address is WV, but yes, I’m teaching at the Richmond Hobby Lobby stores. (no, I don’t drive that far every day 😀 ) You can always call the store and check my reliability. Just want you to be assured of a professional transaction and a great experience for your child.
